Note: The following article is written for my Bazi discussion groups after someone reported that her spouse suffers office politics and “backstabbing” at work.

People with “back-pointing sha” are likely to suffer backstabbing, gossiping, bad-mouthing from people around them.  Below are the characteristics of people with this sha in their Bazi:
1.   like to show off or high profile, hence attracting jealousy, gossiping, backstabbing and bad-mouthing
2.   do favor for people but do not get their appreciation
3.   have few or no close friends, being bullied by others
Here is the formula for finding back-pointing sha in a Bazi chart:
  • Birth year monkey/ rat/ dragon (shen/ zi/ chen) with shen in any branch
  • Birth year pig/ rabbit/ ram (hai/ mao/ wei) with hai in any branch
  • Birth year snake/ rooster/ ox (si/ you/ chou) with si in any branch
  • Birth year tiger/ horse/ dog (yin/ wu/ xu) with yin in any branch
EFFECT OF BACK-POINTING SHA LOCATIONS
  • Back-pointing sha” is less serious in year pillar, people just talk bad about you at your back.
  • Back-pointing sha” is most serious in hour pillar, people talk bad about you in your face.
  • Back-pointing sha” in month or day pillar– people talk bad about you both in your face or at your back, but they can’t do much to you or bully you.
If a chart has Tian-yi nobleman, the effect of “back-pointing sha” will be lessened.

This article discusses common Feng Shui conditions that affect the well-being and luck of the male head of the household or business.

In Feng Shui theory, Qian or northwest sector represents the heaven, father or husband of a household.  Kun or southwest sector represents the earth, mother or wife.  Hence the NW environment and item placement reflect the luck and position of the oldest male of the house.

The items below affects the well-being of the the oldest male in a property or boss in a business:

1.  NW sector should not have a missing corner or the eldest male will have no status, being physically weak/ chronically sick, not staying home, low luck, or even die prematurely.

2.  There should be no toilet in NW sector or the oldest male will suffer illness/ low luck.  If this house has no male, woman owner will have hard time finding or keeping a man.   If this is a business, employees will not listen to the boss.

3.   Do not hammer nails or hooks in NW walls.  This may affect the health of the old male.

4.  Keep NW sector clean for health of the male head

5.  Do not put heavy objects in NW sector.  This may curtail his luck

6.  Put auspicious items or decorations related to status and power in NW sector to generate good qi / energy for the male head

7.  Kitchen must not be placed in NW or children will be rebellious.  This is called “fire burning heaven’s gate” because NW is metal energy in nature.

This article looks familiar to you because it is “recycled” from previous article with minor changes.  In fact, you can create your own Feng Shui school with the Bagua representations diagram shown here.  The “core engine” of most “new age” or “western” Feng Shui schools are generated from this bagua diagram.  So if you want to write about Feng Shui for the eldest son,  you just change the direction listed above from NW to east.

1.  SW sector should not have a missing corner or the eldest female will have no status, being physically weak/ chronically sick, not staying home, low luck, or even die prematurely.

2.  There should be no toilet in SW sector or the female will suffer illness/ low luck or the man will have problem getting a wife

3.   Do not hammer nails or hooks in SW walls.  This may affect the health of the female.

4.  Keep SW sector clean for health of the female

5.  Do not put heavy objects in SW sector.  This may curtail her luck

6.  Put auspicious items or decorations in SW sector to generate good qi / energy for the female.

7.  Kitchen Feng Shui affects female of the house directly.  Check below:

Today is your lucky or unlucky day if you need the knowledge of your husband’s lover.  The info is hidden in your own Bazi chart! cheating-husband

Power star (zheng-guan/ qi-sha) represents the husband of a female Bazi chart.  By checking the interactions of your husband star within the chart and during luck periods, you can figure out some specific information of your “competition” and approximate timing when this competition shows up.

Here are the secrets:

  1. If your power star is combined away by a resource star (“yin“), your hubby’s lover is older than you.
  2. If your power star is combined away by an output star (“shi-shen/ shang-guan”), your hubby’s lover is younger than you or about the age of your children!
  3. If the power star is combined away by a peer star (“bi-jian/ jie-cai“), your hubby’s lover is about the same age as you and she is likely your close friend!
  4. If the power star is combined away by a wealth star (“zheng-cai/ pian-cai“), your hubby’s lover runs into his life due to work or yourself.
  5. If the power star is combined away by the favorable element of your chart, your hubby’s lover is better than you in terms of economic, academic and work performance.

With this knowledge, you can narrow down the potential competition and keep an eye on her (and your hubby) before she becomes your real competition!  Bazi knowledge is very practical.

Bazhai or 8-Mansions Feng Shui is one of the oldest Feng Shui schools in China.  It started around the “Spring and Autumn Warring States” period (770 to 221 BC).

The original Bazhai creators probably were the grand-daddy of positive thinking movement.  They did not label negative sectors of a house as “inauspicious” but using “little auspicious 小吉”, “less auspicious 玄吉” and “least auspicious 幺吉” instead.

When the Japanese ambassador requested China for Feng Shui help in around 7th century (Tang Dynasty),  the Chinese emperor had ordered a rewrite of Bazhai to make sure our Japanese friends understand those not so auspicious sectors are actually bad sectors.  This gives rise to modern version of Bazhai with the inauspicious sectors clearly labeled as negative–  “death 绝命”, “six-killing 六煞” and “disaster 祸害”.

Sample Bazhai sectors for Qian House

Basic premise of Bazhai Feng Shui is pretty simple– matching the magnetic profile of a person to the magnetic profile of a house.  There are only two magnetic profiles:  east-4-group and west-4-group.  An individual’s magnetic profile or ming-gua is determined by his birth year whereas a house is determined by its facing and sitting direction.  Good Feng Shui is when a east-4-group person lives in a east-4-group house,  A Feng Shui mismatch occurs when a east-4-group person lives in a west-4-group house.

While determining the magnetic profile or ming-gua of a person is straight-forward, for the house is a big mess or merry-go-round situation, especially with the changing definition of facing in modern architecture.

To do Bazhai Feng Shui, the first step is to determine the “Fu Wei 伏位” or “stability” sector of a house.  Essentially this is similar to determine the sitting and facing in other Feng Shui schools.

Below are different ways of determine the “Fu Wei 伏位” :

  1. Sitting determines house profile:  the opposite side of door-facing direction is the sitting direction.  For example, if the door-facing of a house is SE, the sitting will be NW or Qian palace, the house is a Qian house or a west-4-group house.  NW or Qian sector is  “Fu Wei 伏位” or “stability” sector of the house.  NW is always has the qi of NW. Hence this method is based on magnetic field
  2. Main door facing determines house profile:  For example, if the main door is in SE or Xun palace, the house is a Xun house or a east-4-group house.  SE or Xun sector is  “Fu Wei 伏位” or “stability” sector of the house.  This method is based on energy or qi-flow.  The main “qi-mouth” is in Xun.
  3. Resident’s ming-gua determines house profile:  For example, the house resided by a person with Li ming-gua will be a Li or east-4-group house.  The south or Li sector will be the “Fu Wei 伏位”.  This method is based on the theory that Feng Shui will not operate without the resident and should be people-centered.
  4. The tallest sector of the house determines house profile:  For example, if west side of the house is tallest, that sector will be the “Fu Wei 伏位” and he house is a Dui house.  This is based on the tallest sector is the most dominant sector.

The methods listed above contain valid arguments.  But which one should one use?  I think it all depends on individual situation.  For example, in a retail business, the main door traffic flow is important, using main door facing is likely more relevant.  For residence, main door traffic is not as important as the house magnetic influence.  Same arguments are also applicable to other Feng Shui methods like Flying star and the like.  Consult your teacher or my “Practical Door Feng Shui” course for more inspirations.

Today is your lucky day.  Here are the top secrets on Bazi activation dates on mostly negative events.  The original comes in the form of a Chinese poem:activation

  1. Dreadful of an element not in natal chart shows up (from Luck Period)  无者怕露面
  2. Dreadful of a lone element in natal chart shows up again (from Luck Period)  独者怕重见
  3. Dreadful of a strong element or element supporting strong element or element opposing the strong element shows up (from Luck Period)  旺者怕两头
  4. Dreadful of tomb collapsing (due to interaction with Luck Period) 墓者怕崩陷

You probably could figure out the rational behind these “secrets”.  If not, examples and explanations are posted in my Bazi discussion groups.  Simply purchase any one of my Bazi courses will give you access to my Bazi discussion group.

Note:  Below are some questions from “4P Bootcamp” discussion group.

Is the age in which the luck pillar changes Chinese age or western age?

It is based on solar calendar.  To calculate the first 10-years-luck (10YL), yang male/ yin female (based on birth year) count the number of days and hour from birthday/hour to next solar terms (3 days= 1yr, 1 Chinese hour= 10 days).  Yin male and yang female count the number of days and hour from birthday/hour BACKWARD to previous solar terms.  For detail calculation, consult your basic Bazi textbooks.

Some say Chinese and others say western (age). That can make a significant difference sometimes.

It is always presented using the stem of the first year of one’s10YL.  For example, my 10YL starts at every jia-year…..  This confusion is due to the way traditional Chinese method of counting age is different from westerners.  Chinese baby is already one year old when s/he is born.  Hence in some Chinese Bazi software, the year daymaster (DM) clashing Grand Duke is 12x+ 1 whereas Bazi software written by westerners is 12x.  Chinese way of counting the age of a dead person is even more bizarre– the dead guy gets 3 bonus years– one year each from heaven, earth and himself.  So if a person is dead at 68, his reported age of death would be 71 by the funeral home.

In the year of change, if it happens to be in the middle of the year, do the old/new pillar switch off/on or there’s a mixing of energy for the whole year?

You separate the year, so you may have half a year in the old 10YL and another half in new 10YL.

When 10YL switches, good or bad things are likely to happen, especially if the switch is from one region to another or “changing corner luck” (from hot to dry, for example, from wei to shen (fire to metal region)– if the new region is favorable (great!), if unfavorable (pray or take my “Destiny and Luck” course)

Events are more likely to happen in the beginning or end of a 10YL.  There is a saying about 10YL, “男怕交运,女怕脱运. Male is afraid of changing 10YL.  Female is afraid of the end of a 10YL.”

How soon will the new luck pillar be felt before the actual change takes place especially corner luck?

This is hard to say, but it is pretty common to see someone suddenly dies/suffers major mishaps or become filthy rich/ famous overnight when the annual luck or 10YL switches.   10YL is the “big environment“.  Annual luck is the trigger.  Activation depends on, I guess, the differentials in strength between favorable/unfavorable elements.  If there is an overwhelming imbalance and/or 3+ branches got clashed, events may happen faster.

Checking the year of luck period switching is one way of looking for “actions” or possible fortune/ misfortune event that may happen.
