April 2015

He-chi Daily of Guang-Xi Province in China has published a photo essay about a 70+ years old couple in mid April, 2015.  The essay become viral and was carried by numerous Chinese print and digital media around the world.

Wei is the 76 years old wife.  Huang is the 80 years old husband.  They have been married 55 years ago.

On the day of their wedding, Huang had promised to take care of Wei for life.

“我管你这辈子了。”

“I will depend on you forever.”  Replied Wei.

“这辈子我也就依靠你了。”

The couple live on a small plot of land and raise some chicken and ducks.  They have been living in poverty through out their lives.  The longest trip that they made is to the nearby county fair which is within walking distance.

They have no children.

In 1985, Huang had eye problems and gradually lost his eyesight.  Wei becomes his eyes and takes him around town using a bamboo stick.  She tells him what she sees on the roads and updates him on the gossips in their village.

The couple walking hand-in-hand with a bamboo stick

It is 30 years since Huang had gone blind.  Aging also catches up with Wei.  She has osteoporosis and walks with a stooped posture that limits her field of view.  But this disability does not stop her from being the “walking stick” of her husband.  The touching sight of this affectionate couple walking together with a bamboo stick becomes a famous scene of the town.

A thought-provoking view for everyone within their path

Wei is an illiterate and let Huang make financial calculations and decisions on the buying and selling of their daily necessities and produces.

The couple discuss what to buy.
Wei took out money to buy cigarettes for Huang
They walk together across the bridge
…. walking together on beaten path
… and up the hills
walking downstairs
“I’m his eyes.  He is all of me!”

For the past 55 years, Wei listens to and abides by her husband.  She does not give up nor abandon him.  “I am his eyes.  He is all of me!”  Said Wei.

55年来,韦桂义对丈夫言听计从、不离不弃。我是他的眼睛,他是我的全部!韦桂义说.

Neither poverty nor physical disabilities could break their promises to each other.

Love can be as simple as staying together.

Dogs are well-known for their loyalty, like staying at the tombs of their owners.  Cats seems to be more spiritual.  I  have seen quite a few video of cats doing mediation and even reading sutra in Youtube.

The following photos illustrate my point:

Finally, I have my share of “Buddha cats” in my home:

However, “Buddha cats” still scratch my furniture and split my window curtains.

Note:  The following is an excerpt from the “Days to avoid” chapter of my “Practical Date-Selection Methods” video course.  It is modified here for people who cannot afford this video course for the time being.  So they can at least avoid some bad dates.

DAYS TO AVOID
Regardless of the date-selection system you are using, you should not use certain days within a year. Remove these days from your consideration will reduce the number of days to analyse.
.
Generally, it is still possible to use these days IF other methods say that they are good. In particular, you may use them if the four pillar analysis shows that the day is strong in your favorable element and some other date-selection methods, like XKDG also approves it.
.
There are 7 types of days to be avoided:
  1. Year Breaker (Sui Po)
  2. Month Breaker (Yue Po)
  3. Day Breaker (Ri Po)
  4. Big Consumption (Da Hao)
  5. Yearly San Sha
  6. Monthly San Sha
  7. Daily San Sha
For simplicity and practical purposes, we will cover only year, month and day breaker here plus an important tip at the end of this message (the course manual covers everything listed above).  This should be suffice for common applications.  The goal here is NOT choosing the best date but to avoid bad dates, which is much easier to do for non-professionals.  No bad things happen to you is the next best thing to good things happen.

YEAR BREAKER  (Sui Po)

If you use a year breaker day:

  • Frustrations. Things do not flow.
  • Arguments and conflicts.
  • Business negotiations will be unsuccessful.
  • Contracts and marriages are unsuccessful.

If possible, avoid using the month that breaks the year as well.  In some scenarios,  you  may not be able to avoid a whole month if the activity or event must be held within the month.
.
MONTH BREAKER (Yue Po)
If you use the month breaker day:
  • Frustrations. Things do not flow.
  • Arguments and conflicts.
  • Business negotiations will be unsuccessful.
  • Contracts and marriages are unsuccessful.

.
DAY BREAKER (Ri Po)
This is slightly different from Sui Po and Yue Po. The day is broken by the animal sign of the hour. This is relatively minor, compared to the other two breakers.
If you use a day breaker hour:
  • Frustrations. Things do not flow.
  • Arguments and conflicts.
  • Business negotiations will be unsuccessful.
  • Contracts and marriages are unsuccessful.

 .
How to find or calculate the animal signs of a date and hour?  Simply go to the following website and type in the target date and hour.

To get the animal signs, you need to click the box options in the top right side of the screen as show here. That is, choose “Ken Lai Method” and “Pillars: English” options.

You will find the animal listed at the branch (EB) level of the :

Sample Chart showing April 9, 2015; 10:55 am
year pillar (to find out your birth animal sign if keying in your birth date;  or if you key in the target date, the year pillar will be the Grand Duke or the animal sign of the year)
month pillar  (month animal sign)
day pillar  (day animal sign)
hour pillar  (hour animal sign)

Besides avoiding year, month and day breakers, the date/time chosen should not clash the animal sign/s of the user/s.  If you cannot avoid clashing someone’s animal sign in a group situation, simply avoid clashing the principal or bread-winner of the family or company.
To summarize, when choosing a date, avoid clashing:  the current year’s Grand Duke (Tai Sui) or animal sign,  the animal sign of the month,  the animal sign of the day and the animal sign of the user or client (dead or alive).
.
However, for important events and activities, you probably should consult other date-selection methods like XKDG, QMDJ,  4-Pillars and etc., or hire a professional to do the date-selection for you.

Note:  The following is an excerpt from the manual of “Practical Date-Selection Methods” video course.  The passage is written by co-author Master Lee.

WHAT IS “DATE-SELECTION”?

It is the process of selecting of a date and time that provide beneficial energy to our intended activities.

There are many schools for date-selection. It is likely that the more you learn about date-selection, the more bad days you will run into.

In truth, the date that affects you without your doing anything is based on the four pillars chart of the date. This is the dominant time energy that affects us all, based on our birth particulars. Most other methods require the human qi to activate them.

Date-selection can be related to Feng Shui. Feng Shui without the human qi is purely earth luck. It is about the natural accumulation of qi. Without the human component, this qi has no purpose, and therefore it is neither “good” nor “bad” until people move in.

In date-selection, we tap into the time energy that is naturally there. Some time energy rises and falls, affecting people in different ways based on their 4-Pillars and physical conditions. With other time, it may require a clear intention (whether it is taking a specific action, or just doing mental programming) to activate.

Xuan Kong Da Gua (XKDG) date-selection is strongly related to the I-Ching and the 64 hexagrams. By tapping into the energy of 64 hexagrams, we can modulate and modify the energies coming through. This can happen automatically, but the effect may be weak without the human qi (intention, mind and action) component.

Time energy is also related to space. At certain times, certain locations and directions become auspicious. We can tap into these auspicious locations and directions as well, using human qi.DS_cvr

An auspicious date-selection can enhance a Feng Shui job or at least reduce or delay the negative effects of a lousy Feng Shui placement.

Another function of date-selection is to “reboot” a failing activity (like a business) by “restarting” the activity in an auspicious date and time.

By and large, it is best if the four pillars (of the date and user), XKDG and direction-location energies coincide. However, if it is not possible, then at least two can make it usable.

Date-selection is one of the many vehicles you can use in your evolution to a higher level of Chinese metaphysics. It opens up the energy at a fundamental level and offers you opportunities for turning your life around.

Note:  The following is an excerpt from the manual of “Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui” on the effects of “T-junction” or road clash (a.k.a. road-chong) on the residents of a house.

Road clash is a strong rush of air current hitting a house. It disrupts the magnetic field of the house being rushed and in turn affecting the residents inside.
NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ROAD CLASH
Clash from the front of house:
l         Injuries and automobiles accidents  (hitting from the front)
l         Lawsuits (road clash is a sha energy, stands for lawsuits)
l         Murder and deaths (esp. if the road clash is from the east)
l         Serious sickness, surgeries or strokes
Clash from the back of house:
l         Injuries and automobiles accidents (hitting from the back or occurs during evening)
l         Backstabbing by mean people; being accused or implicated
l         Bad debts from relatives and close friends
l         Lawsuits
Clash from the side of house:
n          Effects are similar to clash from the back
REMEDIES FOR ROAD CLASH
  • (please see “Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui” course manual)
Note: use bagua mirror only when you have no other alternative.  It is more a psychological remedy than real fix.
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ROAD CLASH AND DIRECTION  (Direction is relative to the house)
l         Road clash from NW, W, NE and S—will bring wealth, but still unsafe (may hurt residents).  It is more appropriate for
business storefront than residence.
l         Road clash from N, SW —  likely to have lawsuits
l         Road clash from SE— peach blossom and suicides are more likely
l         Road clash from East— car accidents and deaths are more likely
AUSPICIOUS ROAD CLASH DIRECTION (direction is relative to the house)
Not all road clashes are negative, the ones that clashes the “timely star” are good for doing business are: (based on current Period 8)
–NW, W, NE and S, especially NE and South
Note:  the house being clashed must have back support, green dragon and white tiger to handle the clash.
