When one walks into a house, one could easily predict if the residents have health problems or not.  It sounds like magic but it is really simple after you have read this article.

In Feng Shui, a house can also represent the body of the residents.  A house is divided into 8 sectors along the Bagua or 8-trigrams theory.  Each sector represents certain family member and organ.  For example, northwest or Qian sector represents the father or oldest male of the house.  It also represents the head or lungs in a body.

We keep it simple here by focusing on the location of bathroom (toilet) and kitchen locations and its effect on the health and other aspects of the residents.

KITCHEN/ TOILET LOCATION AND RESIDENT HEALTH

According to Yi-Jing (“Book of Changes”), “Fortune and misfortune are attributable to movement.”.  Kitchen and toilet have the most traffic or movements within a house.  So its location has significant effects on the well-being of the residents.

If kitchen or toilet is in the northwest side of a house, the oldest male or father of the house will have less luck or someone has headache or lung problem.  Northwest is the Qian trigram location and stands for father.

If kitchen or toilet is in the southwest side of a house, the oldest female or mother of the house is likely a weakling or someone has spleen or  stomach problems.  Southwest is the Kun trigram location and stands for mother.

If kitchen or toilet is in the east side of a house, the eldest son or 40+ years old male of the house is likely has mental problem or someone has liver or gallbladder problems.  Southwest is the Zhen trigram location and stands for eldest son.

If kitchen or toilet is in the southeast side of a house, the eldest daughter or 40+ years old female of the house may lack luck or someone has liver or gallbladder problems.  Southeast is the Xun trigram location and stands for eldest daughter.

If kitchen or toilet is in the north side of a house, the middle son or middle-age   male  of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has kidney or urological problems.  Southwest is the Kan trigram location and stands for middle son.

If kitchen or toilet is in the south side of a house, the middle daughter or middle-age female of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has heart or blood vessels problems.  South  is the Li  trigram location and stands for middle daughter.

If kitchen or toilet is in the northeast side of a house, the youngest son or young or teenage male of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has stomach or spleen problems.  Southwest is the Gen trigram location and stands for youngest son.

If kitchen or toilet is in the west side of a house, the youngest daughter or young or teenage female of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has respiratory problems.  Southwest is the Dui trigram location and stands for youngest daughter.

TOILET LOCATION,  ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND RELATIONSHIP

Toilet location may also affect the academic performance of your children.  Make sure the location representing your kid has no toilet.  Another precaution is the 4-academic star location of your house should have no toilet on it or the academic performance of the residents suffer.

For women live in a house with toilet in Qian (NW) sector of the house, they are likely have problem keeping a man in the house or the man has weak character and/or does not want to stay home.

A student asks these questions:  What is “Middle Heaven Bagua“? How come it is rarely seen or mentioned in traditional Feng Shui books?

Bagua or “8-trigrams” was created by the mythical ruler Fu Xi (伏羲, around 2800 BC).  It is the oldest binary symbol system in the world.  It started with “void” or nothingness to tai-ji or the “yin-yang fish” symbol.  The tai-ji evoles to “yin” and “yang” as represented by one line and two broken lines.  After 2 more iterations, the system of 8-trigrams or “bagua” emerges:   QIAN乾 ☰,  KUN坤 ☷,  LI离 ☲,  KAN坎 ☵,  ZHEN震 ☳,  XUN巽 ☴,  DUI兌 ☱ and  GEN艮 ☶   (Color stands for the elemental nature of the trigram).

“Bagua” becomes the building blocks of Chinese civilization including metaphysics.  It is also probably the first creation model using binary symbols.  Yi-Jing or “Book of Changes” elaborates the functions and interactions of bagua elements.

The Yi-Jing or Zhou-yi (周易) that we have today is part of a trilogy of:

  1. Lian Shan Yi (連山易)–  Lian Shan means  “continuous mountains” in Chinese.  Pre-heaven Bagua is based on this classic.  The initiating trigram is Gen(艮).
  2. Gui Cang Yi (歸藏易) Gui Cang means “return and in storage” in Chinese.   The initiating trigram is Kun (坤).
  3. Zhou-yi (周易)– Zhou stands for King Wen of Zhou Dynasty.  Post-heaven Bagua is based on this classic. The initiating trigram is Qian (乾).

Unfortunately, Lian Shan Yi and Gui Cang Yi had been lost though part of their texts were quoted in Zhou-yi and other classics.

Chinese metaphysics always talks about the “Three components” or “San Cai” (三材)– “Heaven,  Human and Earth” (some people translated it as “holy trinity” or “cosmic trinity”, too religious and value-laden for me).  In terms of Feng Shui applications, Pre-heaven bagua stands for the heaven aspects and Post-heaven bagua for the earth aspects. Logically some people will look for  the “human bagua” or the “Middle Heaven Bagua” because human beings stand between heaven and earth.

There are numerous versions of “Middle Heaven Bagua” created by the curious souls or metaphysics marketers over the centuries.  Here I will show you two versions that are more “reasonable” because they are based on the bits and pieces of  Lian Shan Yi and Gui Cang Yi as quoted in Zhou-yi or other ancient texts.

Time for a nap.  If you come back next time, I will show you a top middle-heaven bagua secret– no affinity or money needed.
