Feng Shui

bathroomThere was no plumbing in ancient China, bathroom was put outside the house.   With modern plumbing and flush toilet, bathroom is integrated into the house interior.

Bathroom is important in Feng Shui because it is where wastes or negative qi/ energy accumulates and removed.  Every resident in a house uses the bathroom everyday.  The location of bathroom affects the health and luck of the residents of the household.

The locations below are where NOT to put your bathroom:

  1. Southwest location:  This is the location of Kun trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the oldest female or mother of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of the mother.  It also affects marital relationship of the couple.
  2. Northwest location:  This is the location of Qian trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the oldest male or father of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of the father.  It also affects marital relationship of the couple and career of the father.
  3. Northeast location:  This is the location of Gen trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the youngest male or son of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of this son.  Gen trigram also represents the current Feng Shui Period 8 luck for the house.  This may affect the overall luck of the household.
  4. South location:  This is the location of Li trigram in Feng Shui.  It represents the middle daughter or 30+ years old female of the house.  A bathroom in this location will affect the health and luck of this female mother.   Li trigram is fire in nature and bathroom is water in nature.  This will create water and fire clashes that may give rise to disasters and accidents to the residents.
  5. Center location:  This is the worst location for a bathroom.  Center is like the “heart” of a house and should be kept quiet, clean, minimized movements, no heavy objects, no staircase and no bathroom.  Sickness like heart problem and acute illness may occur to the residents if a bathroom is put in this location.   This is also the most difficult problem to fix here.  Walk away if you find a new house with a bathroom in the house center.

There are some limited remedies for these bathroom problem.  I have some solutions in my “Advanced Visual Form Feng Shui” video course (please check below for details).

gambling2The tips below are for increasing the probability of winning in small group gambling like table games (blackjack, poker and the likes) and Chinese mahjog.  These games are characterized by a small group of people, usually less than 10,  sit around a table and play.

I deliberately do NOT explain the rationale behind the tips below (take my “Visual Form Feng Shui” course if you are curious).  You may understand the theories behind if you have studied Feng Shui.

FENG SHUI TIPS FOR SOCIAL GAMBLING

  1. Sitting location:  Your back must have a wall or a tall object as your “back support“.  It must not be empty or your wealth luck will suffer.
  2. Facing:  Your facing direction must be open and wide.  It is even better this open space is connected to the main door to receive wealth energy from outside. This affects the magnitude of your wealth luck.
  3. See no toilet:  Your facing must NOT seeing/facing a toilet.
  4. No toilet at your back: Your back location must not be a toilet.
  5. Round table:  If sitting around a round table, sit at the side that has a wall.
  6. Square table:  If sitting around a square or rectangular table, sit at the side with a wall.  If the side has two seats, sit at the right side.  If the side has 3 seats, sit in the middle.  If the side has 4 seats, sit at the third seat (counting from the left), if you cannot get the third seat, sit on the 4th seat.
  7. Avoid traffic:  If you cannot get the ideal seat, avoid the seat on the side with walking traffic at your back.
  8. Time-out:  Take a break to “recharge” your energy when someone keeps winning (to interrupt his winning streak energy) or you keep losing.

These tips have been tested and found high accuracy in predicting who will win or loss in small group social gambling situation.

Similar principles can be applied to casino situation.  Avoid dealer with a back support like a wall or tall object.  Sit at the right side of a table (but make sure there are people in your left side) and avoid opening/ door at your back.  Unfortunately, it is rare to find back support/ wall for gamblers in casinos.  So at the least, find a dealer with an empty space at his back, the bigger the better.

A student of mine has combined Imperial Qi-Men-Dun-Jia and Bazi to win slot machines in casinos.  His winnings are more than enough to pay for my courses and more.

Disclaimer:  There is no guarantee for anyone to win in any gambling situation.  The author of this post will not be responsible for any losses/ profits resulting from any application of the tips listed in this post.

buildingWhen doing Feng Shui audit, the most critical part is figuring out the “facing” and “sitting” of the house because this determines the energy distribution within the property.

“Sitting” is also called “mountain” in Feng Shui terms.  This obviously implying the “back” of the house.  “Facing” is the angle measured based on the “sitting” of the house.

However, how to define “facing” and “sitting” is not this simple.  The topic remains a “hot potato” in Feng Shui circle.

Approaches to facing and sitting:

  • Using door location as facing– the opposite of door facing will be the sitting.
  • Using mountain or back-support (buildings at the back) to determine facing– door location may not be the opposite side of mountain.
  • Using the “yang-est” side like big open space or ocean or the side with most street traffic as facing– even the door may be at the back of this “facing”.
  • For Qi-Men-Dun-Jia Feng Shui (non-divination type)– door location is very flexible and can be located in any trigram or palace.

For multiple storeys building with multiple tenants:

  1. Using the main entrance of the building as the facing,  the opposite of door facing will be the sitting— all the units/ apartments will use the same sitting/ facing.
  2. Using the main door location of individual unit/ apartment as the facing,  the opposite of door facing will be the sitting.
  3. Using the “yang-est” side (side with most windows/ balcony) of individual unit/ apartment as the facing,  the opposite side will be the sitting.
  4. Combination of #1 and 3 with this rule:  For storeys 1 to X (“X” usually is10+) storey, use rule #1 and after “Xth” storey, use rule #2.  The rationale is “Xth” below storeys will be more affected by earth energy and “Xth” above will be affected more by “heaven” or star energy.

There are numerous arguments on which method is more “correct” using how “qi” or energy travels and moves around a house.  For example, the argument against using the yang-est side of a highrise apartment as facing:  qi must be carried by people into the apartment.  People walk through building main entrance, take the elevator and walk to their apartment door.  They do not and cannot walk into their apartment through the balcony high above ground.

I have deliberately skipped the argument on whether “facing” OR “sitting” is more important to keep this short.

Regardless of the arguments, most schools think their method is the best!  This is why if you hire Feng Shui practitioners from different schools, you may get totally opposite readings if facing/ sitting measurement methods are different.

The term “ghost-gate” (鬼门) exists long before the term “Feng Shui” was coined.  You can find this term in the ancient text of Yi-jing.

Ancient text claims that “ghost-gate” is in northeast or Gen trigram, where spirits or ghosts entering or leaving.  Ancient people like to build temples on this location to facilitate spiritual communications.

Modern views do not think ghost-gate is really ghost-ridden, but the energy here is very “yin“.

There are two types of ghost-gate line.  The line at the center of northeast region (Gen trigram) is called “outward ghost-gate line表鬼门. The other one at the southwest (Kun trigram) is called “inner ghost-gate line里鬼门.

These two angles have the most “yin” energy within 360 degrees.

In terms of Feng Shui, doors, toilet seat, stove, fridge, air-conditioner, washing machine, hi-fi, TV, wealth position……, should not be placed on this ghost-gate line.  Inauspicious events or misfortune may happen if items with movements are placed on these ghost-gate lines.

Negative events will happen to male owner mostly if outward ghost-gate line is violated and to woman owner if inner ghost-gate line is provoked.

Negative effects will be more severe if main door sits on ghost-gate line.  It will be the worst if this door is also facing a T-junction or other form-sha energy like a “sickle sha” or “heart-piercing sha“.

  4. See a stairway—  leaking energy and wealth
  5. See bedroom—  attracting lust and affairs
  6. See the kitchen— causing lawsuits, wealth losses and hot temper
  7. Walks under heavy beam over the door—  disunity among family members and dwindling luck
  8. See the balcony through the door— leaking qi or energy, hurting people and failure to accumulate wealth and keep people in the family
  9. See 3 doors in a straight line—  “sword piercing heart sha” that hurts people and loses wealth
  10. See piles of shoes/ garbage— negative qi suppresses residents’ luck; difficult life for the residents and attracting “mean people” or backstabbers.

I have just read an article about earth’s shifting magnetic pole affecting the runway labels of Boeing airfield.

http://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/pilots-check-your-bearings-boeing-field-catches-up-with-earths-magnetic-field/

This article quotes NASA, “.… the magnetic north pole has crept northward by more than 600 miles since the early 19th century and is currently migrating northward about 40 miles per year.  When the magnetic poles shift more than five degrees, the rounded numbers used to designate runways need to be changed.

This natural phenomenon also affects Feng Shui measurements because Feng Shui formula (li-qi) depends on magnetic field.

If your house is sitting around the middle of a “mountain” (15 degrees region), shifting 1 or 2 degrees may not change the Feng Shui conditions much.  But if the house is within 2.5 degrees to the borderline of a mountain, it could fall into the “replacement star” region and even worse, small void line and even big void line (depending on the mountain).  Read the following blog articles for what happens if your house sits on a void line.

Therefore, one should have a new Feng Shui audit once every few years or at least do another magnetic measurement, to make sure your house does not fall into a void line. Read the following link of my void line articles for what happens if your house sits on a void line and other factors that may push your house into a void line other than earth’s shifting magnetic pole.

When one walks into a house, one could easily predict if the residents have health problems or not.  It sounds like magic but it is really simple after you have read this article.

In Feng Shui, a house can also represent the body of the residents.  A house is divided into 8 sectors along the Bagua or 8-trigrams theory.  Each sector represents certain family member and organ.  For example, northwest or Qian sector represents the father or oldest male of the house.  It also represents the head or lungs in a body.

We keep it simple here by focusing on the location of bathroom (toilet) and kitchen locations and its effect on the health and other aspects of the residents.

KITCHEN/ TOILET LOCATION AND RESIDENT HEALTH

According to Yi-Jing (“Book of Changes”), “Fortune and misfortune are attributable to movement.”.  Kitchen and toilet have the most traffic or movements within a house.  So its location has significant effects on the well-being of the residents.

If kitchen or toilet is in the northwest side of a house, the oldest male or father of the house will have less luck or someone has headache or lung problem.  Northwest is the Qian trigram location and stands for father.

If kitchen or toilet is in the southwest side of a house, the oldest female or mother of the house is likely a weakling or someone has spleen or  stomach problems.  Southwest is the Kun trigram location and stands for mother.

If kitchen or toilet is in the east side of a house, the eldest son or 40+ years old male of the house is likely has mental problem or someone has liver or gallbladder problems.  Southwest is the Zhen trigram location and stands for eldest son.

If kitchen or toilet is in the southeast side of a house, the eldest daughter or 40+ years old female of the house may lack luck or someone has liver or gallbladder problems.  Southeast is the Xun trigram location and stands for eldest daughter.

If kitchen or toilet is in the north side of a house, the middle son or middle-age   male  of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has kidney or urological problems.  Southwest is the Kan trigram location and stands for middle son.

If kitchen or toilet is in the south side of a house, the middle daughter or middle-age female of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has heart or blood vessels problems.  South  is the Li  trigram location and stands for middle daughter.

If kitchen or toilet is in the northeast side of a house, the youngest son or young or teenage male of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has stomach or spleen problems.  Southwest is the Gen trigram location and stands for youngest son.

If kitchen or toilet is in the west side of a house, the youngest daughter or young or teenage female of the house is likely having little or no luck or someone has respiratory problems.  Southwest is the Dui trigram location and stands for youngest daughter.

TOILET LOCATION,  ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND RELATIONSHIP

Toilet location may also affect the academic performance of your children.  Make sure the location representing your kid has no toilet.  Another precaution is the 4-academic star location of your house should have no toilet on it or the academic performance of the residents suffer.

For women live in a house with toilet in Qian (NW) sector of the house, they are likely have problem keeping a man in the house or the man has weak character and/or does not want to stay home.
